I am being asked these questions very often: ”I know that ELDOA is for the spine, but what can I do for my hip? Can ELDOA prevent hip degeneration?”
ELDOA, developed by the French osteopath Guy VOYER DO, is a method that creates space in the joints (the joints in the spine, the hip joints, the shoulder joints and more).
So why is space important, you might wonder?
How can this help my hips, you might ask?
Well, first of all, if the space in a joint gets diminished over time due to wear and tear, the constant gravitational pull or poor posture and habits, its ability to move freely and without discomfort diminishes as well.
The wear and tear causes the joint surfaces to get too close together, affecting the joint`s mobility. This wear and tear creates ”rust”, as Guy VOYER DO calls it. This rust is something you may have heard of: osteoarthritis.
So can this wear and tear or ”rust” or osteoarthritis be prevented?
Can ELDOA make a difference preventing hip osteoarthritis?
Let me answer this question: as the ELDOA ‘create’ space, there is an improvement in hip joint mechanics, increased blood flow, reduced pressure on the articular surfaces, a reduction of pain, better muscle tone, improved posture, and a sense of well-being and awareness.
So yes, ELDOA can help improve hip mechanics and health and in the long term prevents hip osteoarthritis and the possibility of hip replacement surgery.
